What to expect at Cumbria Moto Park

We’re an indoor electric motocross track just outside Wigton, on the doorstep of the Lake District. The idea is simple: you turn up, hop on one of our electric KTM bikes and have a proper go round the dirt track. No experience needed, no bike of your own needed. And because it’s all under cover, a wet Cumbrian afternoon makes no difference to your ride.

This isn’t about training up the next champion. It’s about having a laugh on a bike. First-timers who’ve never sat on one, nervous beginners, kids, and confident riders who just fancy a blast are all welcome.

Who can ride

Riders are grouped by age, so little ones aren’t sharing the track with adults. It keeps things safe and means everyone’s riding alongside others at a similar level, whatever that level is.

Booking and payment

Book ahead through the website to reserve your spot, as sessions do fill up. If you’re after something last minute, get in touch. We often have slots free from cancellations and can sometimes squeeze you in.

You pay when you book, or we can take payments on site via card if needed. We take card, contactless and cash, so whatever’s easiest for you is fine.

How your visit works

When you arrive, the team will get you signed in and sorted with your gear. Before you ride, you’ll get a quick rider briefing. Nothing heavy, just a run-through of the safety basics, how to balance, and how the bike modes work, so you’re confident before you set off.

What To Wear

We provide all the protective kit, so you don’t need any specialist gear. What you want is comfy clothes you don’t mind getting a bit mucky. The sort of thing you’d wear to the gym or for a kickabout is spot on.

A few pointers:

  • Long socks are a good shout, they sit more comfortably under the riding boots.
  • Tie long hair back so it tucks neatly under the helmet.
  • Leave anything loose or dangly at home.
  • You’ll warm up quickly once you’re moving, so no need to wrap up like it’s a winter fell walk.

What’s Provided

Everything you need to ride is here waiting for you:

  • The bikes. A range of electric KTMs to suit different ages and confidence levels, from balance bikes for the littlest riders up to quicker machines for anyone after more of a challenge.
  • The gear. We kit you out with a helmet, chest protection, gloves, boots, trousers and a shirt. All you bring is yourself.
  • The briefing. A member of the team talks you through everything before you head out.
  • The track. Indoor and fully electric, so it’s quieter and cleaner than a typical muddy motocross day, and the weather is never a problem.

Food and Drink

Worked up a thirst? There’s a fridge of chilled drinks, plus crisps and snacks (Pringles included) to keep you going between rides, or to keep the spectators happy while they watch.

Bringing Spectators

Not riding? No problem, and watching is free. There are two viewing platforms to watch from, both a great spot for filming and getting photos of whoever’s out on the track. Grab a drink and a bag of crisps and enjoy the show.
